Our favorite finish sanding product is a 220-sanding pad, which is equivalent to a 400 grit sandpaper. Sanding pads have redefined finish sanding. They aren’t useful for prep sanding new wood, but are aggressive enough to smooth out a finish and not leave a defined scratch pattern.
TIPS
- Between coats of Milk Paint, sand with a 220 sanding pad or 400-grit sandpaper
- When using any of our topcoats, such as High Performance, Gel Satin, Arm-R-Seal or Exterior 450, sand between coats with a 220 sanding pad or 400-grit sandpaper.
- If you want an even smoother finish, you can finish with a grit as high as 600.
- The sanding pads do come in other grits, but you only need one. This pad starts out at 220 grit and after several sandings, softens to 600-800 grit. One or two pads is usually enough for most finishing projects.
